What can you expect?
First Treatment
This treatment requires a consultation in advance in which we ask questions about medical conditions, medication use, allergies, as this can affect the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. We determine whether a chemical peel is suitable for your skin type and skin problems. And during the consultation you can also discuss any questions or concerns you have about the treatment.
Pre Treatment
To prepare for a chemical peel, it’s important to avoid products that can irritate or exfoliate the skin, such as retinols, exfoliants, acids, and self-tanners. It is also recommended to stay out of the sun and use a sun protection factor (SPF) to protect the skin from the sun. In addition, it is important to follow the instructions of the skin specialist the next time to prepare the skin for the treatment. This may mean, for example, that you should use or avoid certain products.
Post-treatment
Your skin may show the following symptoms: tingling, burning, itching, dryness, redness or tightness. This is normal; however, you can use a moisturizing/repairing cream to soothe your skin. Do not do heavy exercises during this period. Avoid heat sources such as saunas and steam baths. Avoid active exfoliating products, such as retinoids (retinol, tretinoin), AHAs (glycolic acid, lactic acid), BHAs (salicylic acid), and benzoyl peroxide. Wear an SPF of at least 30+ immediately after treatment and every day after treatment to prevent hyperpigmentation.
3 Days after
Your skin will be dry and flaky, peeling or flaking is normal. It is best to let this process heal naturally, do not pick or pull the skin (this can lead to discolouration/hyperpigmentation). After three to four days, most of the exfoliation should be complete, but it can take up to five to seven days for your fresh, new skin to develop.
7 Day after
The peeling period should be over and your skin should feel good. Make sure to keep your skin hydrated and continue your skincare routine.
2 to 6 weeks
Your skin can handle another intensive treatment. Depending on the peeling strength, you can undergo this treatment once every 2 to 6 weeks to get the best results and to address your skin problems. During a course we build up the peeling. By building up the treatments, the layers of the skin are exfoliated more deeply, leading to a better and longer-lasting result.
