Can my dark spots be removed?

Pigmentation treatment aims to make dark spots less visible. The right approach depends on your skin and the type of pigmentation: IPL is only suitable for skin types I–III (Fitzpatrick), while a chemical peel may be another option after assessment. Melasma calls for a longer-term plan with home care; results vary from person to person.

Know the cost before you decide

How much does dark spot treatment cost?

Your first visit starts with a consultation. These treatment prices are per session; the total depends on the approach and number of sessions recommended for you.

What if IPL does not suit my skin?

Chemical peels can address pigmentation by encouraging skin renewal. Your therapist selects the intensity for your skin and concerns.

Looking for melasma treatment?

More about the consultation

Before you book

How much does pigmentation removal cost?

A consultation + first treatment starts from €100. IPL costs €100 for 1–3 spots, €160 for part of the face or €200 for the full face, per session. IPL is only suitable for skin types I–III (Fitzpatrick). Chemical peels start from €100 per session. Your therapist explains the recommended treatment and its cost before you decide; these are not prices for a complete course.

I searched for laser dark spot removal. Is IPL the right option?

A search term alone cannot tell you which treatment suits your skin. IPL uses intense pulsed light to treat pigmentation and is only suitable for skin types I–III (Fitzpatrick). Start with an assessment of your skin and pigmentation; your therapist will explain whether IPL or another approach fits your needs.

Can you treat pigmentation on darker skin?

You can start with a consultation for any skin type. IPL is only suitable for skin types I–III (Fitzpatrick), so it is not the route for types IV–VI. Your therapist can assess other options, including a chemical peel, and explain which approach may suit your skin. You do not need to know your Fitzpatrick type before booking.

Does treatment hurt, and how much downtime should I plan for?

Comfort depends on your skin and the treatment. If pain worries you, raise it during your consultation so your therapist can discuss what to expect before you decide. IPL recovery can take hours to days; a chemical peel can involve 3–7 days of flaking. Mention upcoming travel or events when discussing your plan. IPL is only suitable for skin types I–III (Fitzpatrick).

How many sessions will I need, and what if I see little change?

There is no single session count for every type of pigmentation. Results vary from person to person. Your consultation is the time to discuss the change you hope for, what is realistic and when to review progress. If you notice little change, discuss it with your therapist before booking further sessions. Melasma needs a longer-term plan, including home care, rather than an expectation of removal in one visit.

Do I need a consultation first, and can it be in English?

Yes. Start with an English-speaking skin therapist who assesses your skin, discusses your goals and explains your options. The consultation + first-treatment appointment starts from €100; treatment depends on suitability. There is no obligation to book a course. Book online, choose your Amsterdam clinic and select the pigmentation consultation. You do not need to choose a treatment method in advance.
