Step by step
Every skin reacts differently. Below you will find an overview of what you can expect before, during and after the treatment.
Before treatment
We assess your skin condition and select the optimal wavelength: blue (acne), red (anti-ageing) or NIR (deep skin repair).
Treatment
After a brief cleanse, light therapy is applied. The treatment is completely painless and relaxing.
Aftercare
You can carry on with your day immediately. Weekly sessions for 4-6 weeks deliver the best results, followed by monthly maintenance.
LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment in which our skin therapist directs specific wavelengths of light onto your skin to stimulate cellular processes. Different colours of light each have a different effect: red light (630-660 nm) stimulates collagen production and helps with ageing or dull skin; blue light (415-430 nm) kills acne bacteria; yellow light soothes redness and sensitivity. The light penetrates the skin without damaging the surface, making the treatment suitable for almost everyone.
LED light therapy has a wide range of applications. Red light treats ageing, fine lines, loss of firmness and a dull complexion. Blue light targets acne, blackheads and oily skin. Yellow or amber light helps with rosacea, couperose, sensitive skin and post-treatment recovery. The therapy is also used as an add-on after chemical peels, microneedling or IPL to accelerate healing. Our skin therapist selects the right colour combination based on your skin condition.
For lasting results our skin therapists recommend a course of 6 to 10 sessions, with an interval of 1 to 2 weeks. For maintenance, 1 session per month is sufficient. As an add-on after another treatment, 1 session per visit is usually enough. The package of 5 treatments (with 1 free) offers the most cost-effective way to complete a full course. After the course the skin therapist will work out an optimal maintenance schedule with you.
LED light therapy is completely painless. During the 20-minute session you lie comfortably under the LED panel and feel only a pleasant warmth. There are no needles, no chemicals and no pressure on the skin. Many clients even fall asleep during the treatment. Your eyes are protected with special goggles or eye pads so the bright light does not cause discomfort.
LED light therapy has virtually no side effects. Most clients leave the clinic with a lightly glowing skin that returns to normal within a few hours. Temporary redness is possible but rare. The treatment is suitable for sensitive skin and all skin tones. Our skin therapist checks in advance whether there are any contraindications, such as certain skin conditions or medications that make the skin more light-sensitive (such as isotretinoin).
After 1 to 2 sessions you will notice your skin looks more radiant and feels more even. Visible changes in texture, acne or fine lines become apparent after 4 to 6 sessions. Collagen building is a process that takes weeks, so the best results for ageing skin are visible 6 to 12 weeks after the last session of a course. For acne treatment blue light works faster: clients typically see the first improvement after 2 to 3 sessions.
Yes, LED light therapy is safe to use year-round, including in summer. The treatment does not make the skin extra sensitive to UV radiation, which is a major advantage over peel or laser treatments. Our skin therapist always recommends daily SPF protection as a basic routine, especially when you are following a course for pigmentation or ageing.
Absolutely. LED light therapy works excellently as a complement to virtually all other skin treatments. After a chemical peel, microneedling or laser it reduces redness and speeds up recovery. Combined with the Aqua Peel or Plason Facial it enhances the result. Our skin therapist will gladly discuss which combination best matches your skin concerns and goals.
LED light therapy is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. No harmful rays or chemicals are involved. Our skin therapist adapts the protocol where necessary and always avoids the abdominal area. Still discuss it with your midwife or GP beforehand so your specific situation can be taken into account.
A single LED therapy session of 20 minutes costs 85 euros. The most cost-effective option is the package of 5 sessions plus 1 free for 425 euros, a saving of 85 euros. If you want LED as an add-on to another treatment, our skin therapist can simply add it to your appointment for 25 euros. This way you combine optimal results with a sharp price.
